Exam Structure

SectionSubjectNo. of QuestionsMaximum MarksMarks per Question
Section APhysics60601
Section BChemistry60601
Section CMathematics60601
Total1801801

Question Type

All 180 questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four answer options (A, B, C, D). Candidates must select the single correct or most appropriate answer for each question. The test is delivered on a computer terminal at designated examination centres across India.

Marking Scheme

  • +1 mark is awarded for every correct response
  • No negative marking — incorrect answers carry zero marks
  • Unattempted questions also carry zero marks
  • Candidates are advised to attempt all 180 questions since there is no penalty for wrong answers

Duration and Navigation

The total duration is 180 minutes (3 hours). There is no per-section time restriction; candidates may freely navigate between Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections during the examination window. The online interface allows marking questions for review and revisiting them before final submission.

COMEDK 2026 Cutoff Scores

COMEDK cutoff is the minimum score required by candidates to qualify the examination and become eligible for the next stage of admission. The cutoff is determined by COMEDK based on factors like total number of candidates, difficulty level of the paper, and availability of seats. The exam is conducted for a total of 180 marks. Candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) generally have lower cutoff scores compared to the General category.

Cutoff Data Not Yet Available

COMEDK 2026 cutoff scores will be published after the results are declared. Check back for updates.

How COMEDK Cutoff is Determined

1

Difficulty Level

The overall difficulty of the question paper directly affects cutoff scores.

2

Number of Candidates

Higher participation generally leads to higher cutoff scores due to increased competition.

3

Available Seats

The total number of seats across participating institutes impacts how many candidates qualify.

4

Reservation Policy

Different cutoffs apply for General, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories as per government norms.

COMEDK Preparation Tips

Subject-Wise Recommended Books

For Physics, use H.C. Verma's Concepts of Physics (Vol 1 & 2) as your primary reference, supplemented by D.C. Pandey's Objective Physics for MCQ practice. For Chemistry, NCERT textbooks (Class 11 & 12) are mandatory — COMEDK frequently tests NCERT-level inorganic chemistry directly. Pair with O.P. Tandon for Physical Chemistry and Morrison & Boyd for Organic. For Mathematics, R.D. Sharma for concept building and Arihant's Skills in Mathematics series (G. Tewani) for problem-solving depth.

Study Schedule

COMEDK UGET covers the full Class 11 and 12 syllabus across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics — 60 questions per subject, 180 total. Dedicate 60% of study time to Mathematics as it is the highest-scoring differentiator. Spend the first 3 months on Class 11 topics and the next 2 months on Class 12, followed by 6 weeks of integrated revision and mock tests.

Important Topics

In Physics: focus on Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, and Modern Physics — these consistently carry 40–50% weightage. In Chemistry: Organic Reaction Mechanisms, Electrochemistry, Chemical Bonding, and p-Block Elements are high-yield. In Mathematics: Calculus (Differentiation + Integration), Coordinate Geometry, Probability, and Matrices & Determinants are critical chapters.

Mock Test Strategy

COMEDK has no negative marking, so attempt all 180 questions. Practice full-length timed mocks (180 minutes) at least twice a week in the final two months. Use previous years' COMEDK UGET papers (2019–2024) available on the official comedk.org portal. After each mock, analyze time spent per section — most toppers allocate 50 minutes to Mathematics, 40 to Physics, and 40 to Chemistry, with 50 minutes for review.

Exam-Day Tips

COMEDK is conducted in online CBT mode at designated test centres across Karnataka and other cities. Carry your admit card and a valid photo ID. Since there is no negative marking, never leave a question unattempted. Flag difficult questions and return to them — the CBT interface allows question navigation. Avoid spending more than 90 seconds on any single question in your first pass.

COMEDK Counselling Process

COMEDK UGET 2025 Counselling — Conducted by COMEDK

Post-result counselling for COMEDK UGET is conducted exclusively by COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) through its official online portal at comedk.org. There is no involvement of JoSAA, MCC, or CSAB — COMEDK manages seat allotment for its 190+ member private engineering colleges in Karnataka.

  1. Result & Rank Card Download: After the exam (typically May), candidates download their rank card from the COMEDK portal. The rank is valid only for the current academic year's counselling cycle.
  2. Counselling Registration: Eligible candidates register on the COMEDK counselling portal, pay the counselling registration fee (approximately ₹2,000, non-refundable), and upload scanned documents including Class 10 & 12 mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), and a valid photo ID.
  3. Choice Filling & Locking: Candidates browse participating institutions and fill in their preferred college-branch combinations in order of priority. COMEDK typically offers 200+ branch-college combinations. Choices must be locked before the deadline — unlocked choices are auto-locked at the close of the window.
  4. Seat Allotment Rounds: COMEDK conducts multiple allotment rounds (usually 3 online rounds). Allotment is based on merit rank, category, and choice order. Results are published on the portal and candidates receive SMS/email notifications.
  5. Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment: Allotted candidates must log in, accept the seat, and pay the seat acceptance fee (approximately ₹50,000–₹80,000 depending on the institute) online within the stipulated window to confirm the allotment. Failure to pay forfeits the seat.
  6. Document Verification & Reporting: Candidates must report to their allotted college with original documents — Class 10 & 12 certificates, COMEDK rank card, allotment letter, category certificate, transfer certificate, migration certificate, and passport-size photos — within the dates specified by COMEDK. Spot rounds may be conducted for vacant seats after the main rounds.

Karnataka domicile is not mandatory for COMEDK — it is open to all Indian nationals. However, Karnataka candidates with CET scores may also participate in KCET counselling (conducted by KEA) simultaneously as a fallback option.
