CUET UG 2026 Cutoff Scores

CUET UG cutoff is the minimum score required by candidates to qualify the examination and become eligible for the next stage of admission. The cutoff is determined by National Testing Agency (NTA) based on factors like total number of candidates, difficulty level of the paper, and availability of seats. The exam is conducted for a total of 800 marks. Candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) generally have lower cutoff scores compared to the General category.

Cutoff Data Not Yet Available

CUET UG 2026 cutoff scores will be published after the results are declared. Check back for updates.

How CUET UG Cutoff is Determined

1

Difficulty Level

The overall difficulty of the question paper directly affects cutoff scores.

2

Number of Candidates

Higher participation generally leads to higher cutoff scores due to increased competition.

3

Available Seats

The total number of seats across participating institutes impacts how many candidates qualify.

4

Reservation Policy

Different cutoffs apply for General, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories as per government norms.

CUET UG Preparation Tips

Subject-Wise Recommended Books

For Physics, use NCERT Class 11 & 12 as the primary resource — CUET UG Physics questions are heavily NCERT-based. Supplement with H.C. Verma's Concepts of Physics for conceptual clarity. For Chemistry, NCERT is non-negotiable; pair it with O.P. Tandon for Physical Chemistry and VK Jaiswal for Inorganic. For Mathematics, R.D. Sharma covers the NCERT syllabus thoroughly, and Arihant's CUET Mathematics provides targeted practice. For the General Test (Section III), use Arihant's CUET General Test guide covering quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and general awareness.

Study Schedule

Divide your preparation into three phases. Phase 1 (Months 1–3): Complete NCERT for all chosen domain subjects, making concise notes. Phase 2 (Months 4–5): Solve previous years' CUET UG papers (2022 and 2023 editions are available) and chapter-wise MCQs. Phase 3 (Final 3–4 weeks): Full-length mock tests, revision of weak topics, and current affairs for the General Test.

Mock Test Strategy

CUET UG 2024 adopted a computer-based format with a 195-minute total window. Since you select your sections, practice time allocation per section. Attempt at least 20 full mock tests from NTA's official practice platform (nta.ac.in) and platforms like Embibe or Career Launcher. Analyse each mock for accuracy, not just score — CUET awards +5 for correct answers in domain subjects and −1 for wrong answers, so avoid random guessing.

Important Topics

  • Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Modern Physics, Semiconductor Electronics
  • Chemistry: Coordination Compounds, p-Block Elements, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Polymers
  • Mathematics: Calculus (Integrals & Differentials), Matrices & Determinants, Probability, Vectors & 3D Geometry
  • General Test: Numerical Ability, Reading Comprehension, Current Affairs (last 6 months), Logical & Analytical Reasoning

Exam-Day Tips

Carry your NTA admit card and a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, or Passport). Report to the centre at least 90 minutes before the scheduled slot. CUET UG 2024 allowed candidates to choose domain subjects during registration — review your selected subjects the night before. Do not attempt all questions blindly; the negative marking of −1 per wrong answer in most sections can reduce your scaled score significantly. Stay calm during the CBT — the interface is the same NTA platform used for JEE and NEET, so practice on it beforehand.

CUET UG Counselling Process

CUET UG does not have a single centralised counselling authority. Admission to Central Universities (DU, BHU, JNU, etc.) is handled directly by each university using CUET UG scores. State universities and private deemed universities accepting CUET scores conduct their own admission processes. The following steps apply to Delhi University (DU) as the largest CUET-participating institution, with notes for others.

  1. Result Declaration: NTA releases CUET UG results and scorecards on cuet.samarth.ac.in. Download and save your scorecard immediately.
  2. University-Specific Registration: Each university opens its own admission portal. For DU, register at admission.uod.ac.in during the CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) window. For BHU, register at bhuonline.in. Check each target university's official website for deadlines.
  3. Programme Preference / Choice Filling: In DU's CSAS, fill your programme-college combinations in order of preference. You can edit preferences until the choice-filling window closes. BHU and other central universities have similar preference-filling portals.
  4. Merit List / Seat Allotment Rounds: Universities release multiple allotment rounds (typically 3–4). DU runs Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 under CSAS. Seats are allotted based on CUET UG subject scores and programme eligibility criteria set by each college.
  5. Accepting Allotment & Fee Payment: Log in to the university portal after each round, accept your allotted seat online, and pay the admission fee within the specified window (usually 2–3 days) to secure the seat. Failure to pay forfeits the seat.
  6. Document Verification: Submit Class 10 & 12 mark sheets and certificates, CUET UG scorecard, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS if applicable), migration certificate, and passport-size photographs — either online or in person at the college, as specified.
  7. Reporting to College: After document verification is complete and admission is confirmed, report to the allotted college on the designated date to complete enrolment and collect your student ID.

State Universities that accept CUET UG scores (e.g., Rajasthan University, Lucknow University) conduct separate state-level counselling through their own portals. Check individual university notifications on their official websites for state-specific schedules.
