Frequently Asked Questions - Popular BE Colleges

Autonomous universities and some older institutions (like those under Mumbai, Pune, Anna, and Bangalore universities) traditionally confer BE. IITs and NITs confer BTech. The distinction is historical and has no practical impact on the qualification.

Focus on the institution's quality - placement record, faculty, infrastructure, and research - rather than the degree title. A well-placed BE college is always preferable to a poorly ranked BTech college, and vice versa.

Lateral transfers between institutions with different degree titles are generally not possible. However, since both degrees are equivalent, there is no career benefit to switching between BE and BTech programmes.
