BA LLB, LLB, LLM & Law Courses at NLSIU Bangalore - Fees, Eligibility & Admission 2026

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, established in 1987, is India's first National Law University and consistently ranked among the top 3 law schools in India by NIRF. NLSIU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in law, with admission through CLAT and NLSAT entrance exams.

Undergraduate Programme

NLSIU's flagship programme is the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), a 5-year integrated law degree with 310 seats. Admission is through CLAT UG, with 25% horizontal reservation for Karnataka students and 30% for women. NLSIU is one of the few NLUs to also offer a standalone 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) with 120 seats, admitted through the university's own NLSAT-LLB entrance test.

Postgraduate Programme

The 1-year LL.M. programme admits 120 students through CLAT PG. Four concentrations are available: Corporate & Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, and Law & Technology. A maximum of 30 students per concentration is allowed, with allocation based on CLAT rank.

Doctoral Programme

The Ph.D. in Law is offered through NLSAT-PhD entrance test. Candidates engage in teaching and ongoing NLSIU research during their tenure.

CLAT is conducted annually by the Consortium of NLUs, typically in December. NLSAT for LLB and PhD is conducted separately by NLSIU. International students are admitted through NLSAT-International.
