B.Tech Admission Process (Step-by-Step)

  • Step 1 - JEE Main: Appear for JEE Main conducted by NTA. Qualify within top 2,50,000 candidates (All India) to become eligible for JEE Advanced.
  • Step 2 - JEE Advanced: Appear for JEE Advanced (2 papers, 3 hours each, testing Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). Obtain an All India Rank (AIR).
  • Step 3 - JoSAA Registration: Register on the JoSAA portal, fill preferences for branch and institute (IIT Bombay has 10+ B.Tech options).
  • Step 4 - Seat Allocation: JoSAA runs 6 rounds of allocation based on AIR, category, and preference order. Accept or float/freeze the allotted seat.
  • Step 5 - Reporting: Pay the seat acceptance fee, report to IIT Bombay with original documents, and complete physical verification.

Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech, B.Arch): Candidates must have passed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Main and JEE Advanced with a valid rank. B.Arch candidates must qualify JEE Main (Architecture paper). Reserved category candidates may have relaxed eligibility criteria as per institutional and statutory norms.

Postgraduate Programmes (M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Arch): Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in the relevant engineering or science discipline from a recognized university. M.Tech admission requires a valid GATE score. M.Sc programmes accept qualified candidates based on entrance examination or merit. M.Arch requires a B.Arch degree and GATE qualification or equivalent assessment.

MBA Programme: Bachelor's degree holders from any discipline are eligible. Admission is based on performance in CAT (Common Admission Test) or GMAT, followed by Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Relevant work experience is preferred for final selection.
