IIT Indore Admissions: Eligibility, Process & Entrance Exams

Admission to Indian Institute of Technology Indore is primarily based on merit through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. Candidates seeking undergraduate programs must first qualify in JEE Main and then appear for JEE Advanced. The institute follows the common counseling process for IITs, where shortlisted candidates participate in the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) platform for seat allocation. IIT Indore admits students across various engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, Metallurgy, and Materials Science, among others. Postgraduate admissions are conducted through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) for Master's programs, along with other discipline-specific entrance examinations.

To be eligible for undergraduate programs at IIT Indore, candidates must have passed their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Applicants are required to secure a valid JEE Main score and clear the JEE Advanced examination. There is no upper age limit for JEE Main; however, candidates must meet the qualifying percentage criteria in their 12th board examination. The institute adheres to all reservation norms prescribed by the Government of India, including provisions for SC, ST, OBC, and other categories. Candidates from reserved categories may have relaxed eligibility criteria as per government regulations.

The admission calendar for IIT Indore typically follows the national schedule set by the National Test Agency (NTA) for JEE examinations. Prospective candidates are advised to monitor the official IIT Indore website and the JoSAA portal for important dates, including JEE Main application deadlines, examination dates, and counseling schedules. Early preparation for JEE Advanced is crucial as the examination is highly competitive. Students interested in postgraduate studies should regularly check the institute's admission portal for GATE registration deadlines and merit lists. Applicants are encouraged to review the detailed admission brochure published annually for the most current information regarding eligibility and application procedures.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Tech Programmes: Applicants must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board. Mathematics and Physics are compulsory subjects at the 10+2 level. Candidates must qualify in JEE Main and secure a rank within the cutoff determined by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Eligibility also depends on meeting the General Educational Qualification (GEQ) as per JEE guidelines.

M.Tech Programmes: Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university, or a Bachelor's degree in Science with relevant specialization. A valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score in the appropriate stream is mandatory. The minimum GATE score cutoff varies by specialization and category.

M.Sc Programmes: Applicants must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related fields) from a recognized institution. A valid GATE score in the relevant stream or performance in the institute's entrance examination is required for admission consideration.
