IIT Kanpur Launches National Quantum Computing Research Centre with ₹150 Crore Funding
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has formally inaugurated its National Quantum Computing Research Centre (NQCRC) following a ₹150 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology under the National Quantum Mission. The centre, spread across a newly constructed 12,000 sq ft facility on the Kanpur campus, will focus on quantum algorithms, quantum cryptography, and hardware development.Professor Abhay Karandikar, former IIT Kanpur director, participated in the virtual inauguration alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
