NIT Rourkela Records Strong Placement Season with 95% Offers in 2025-26
National Institute of Technology Rourkela concluded its placement season for the 2025-26 batch with over 95% of eligible students receiving job offers, marking one of the institute's strongest recruitment years. More than 280 companies participated in campus recruitment drives, including major recruiters from sectors such as core engineering, IT services, consulting, and finance.Top recruiters this season included Microsoft, Amazon, Tata Steel, L&T, Infosys, and Goldman Sachs, with the highest domestic package reported at ₹52 LPA.

NIT Rourkela Launches M.Tech Programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
National Institute of Technology Rourkela has introduced a new M.Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science under its Department of Computer Science and Engineering, beginning from the academic year 2026-27. The programme, approved by the Senate, is designed to address the growing industry demand for specialists in machine learning, large-scale data analytics, and intelligent systems design.

National Institute of Technology Rourkela has improved its position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, climbing to 19th place among engineering institutions in India — up from 22nd in the previous year. B.Tech Programmes: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects from a recognized board. Applicants must qualify the JEE Main examination conducted by NTA. Selection is based on JEE Main rank through CSAB counselling. There is no upper age limit, but candidates should meet the category-specific eligibility norms set by the government.
M.Tech Programmes: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree (B.Tech/BE) in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade). GATE qualification is required for most specializations. Selection is based on GATE score or NIT Rourkela's entrance examination, depending on the programme.
MBA Programme: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks aggregate are eligible. CAT (Common Admission Test) qualification is typically required. Work experience is not mandatory but may be considered during evaluation.
